At least two representatives of Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency have recently assumed formal roles at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency — right as the agency braces for more cuts.
Kyle Schutt, a former private sector technologist, and Edward Coristine, a 19-year-old whose ribald social media handle garnered national media attention, are now CISA senior advisers, according to photos of an internal staff directory viewed by POLITICO.
Schutt, who previously worked in senior technology roles for firms that did business with the Republican Party, is a senior software engineer at DOGE, according to media reports. Coristine is a recent undergraduate at Northeastern University who interned at Musk’s Neuralink. He has also reportedly held senior adviser roles inside the State Department and FEMA.
[Coristine] was fired from a cybersecurity internship after he was accused of leaking sensitive data about a competitor. In addition, social media accounts suspected of being linked to him were once active in Discord channels reportedly popular among cybercriminals.
