Fully Automated Luxury Commenting (1)

Topic(s)

Not of course fully “automated”; that would imply The Jackpot’s comments are AI slop, which will never happen. But luxury? I think yes.

One reason I disliked WordPress: It was very hard for me to find comments. Googling for them seemed to be the solution, but “even” Google sometimes failed to return comments I knew I had written. And even if I got a hit in Google, it would take me to the page the comment was on, but not the comment itself, so I had to do a lot of scrolling, hunting, and pecking.

On this site I determined to improve the situation. So I created a table that shows all your comments. Then I put the table on your “My Account” page. Here is a screen shot, helpfully annotated:

[1] Click on the “My Account” button on the lower (grey) menu bar at the top of your screen.

Your account page will appear, and with it, a table headed “My Comments”. All your comments should be there (and nobody else’s, heaven forfend).

[2] You can “Search on Title” MR SUBLIMINAL Change “Title” to “Subject Line” ffs. As you can see, I typed in “funny,” pressed the green Apply button, and the table was reduced to rows showing that result (or in this case, one row). You can also “Search on Text” within all comments MR SUBLIMINAL Change “on Text” to “in Body”, again ffs.

As a bonus, the titles MR SUBLIMINAL subject lines in the Subject Line column are links (dotted underlines). Clicking one takes you directly to the comment itself on the page where it appears.

Please suggest further improvements!

I apologize for figuring out the labels (“Title”/”Subject Line”) on the fly. So it goes. I also apologize for not explaining every luxury for commenters, but I noticed a bug and so will have to revert to administration, and do the second part of this post tomorrow.

Comments

If you would rather not have them please let me know.

The “more” button loads the home page in the Text column.

Great feature! I have fruitlessly searched other forums for comments using Screwgle.
